Stylish Long Haircuts
Published on April 13th, 2011.
Want to have stylish hair makeovers for that long hair you have been keeping? There are many ways to have a stylish haircut for long hair. However, at the beginning, you should be sure to ensure that you have trimmed your hair at regular intervals; preferably once in two months to ensure that there are no split edges. Also, be aware of your hair type and use the shampoo, conditioner or even hair oil of the proper type to keep your hair smooth and full of body.
Sleek, straight hair- This is a great style to flaunt as like many celebrities. Sleek, shiny straight hair looks great and glamorous and is a perfect style to flaunt for those stylish evenings. To get the look, try shine serums after a conditioning bath and after your hair is dry; or opt for organic anti frizz treatments for your hair which you apply before you use an iron to straighten your hair. This will protect your hair and make it silky and straight, just like celebrity hair!
The unkempt, sexy look – This can be achieved by adding loose curls to your hair, especially toward the ends. If you have a layered hairstyle, you could use a straightening iron to curl your hair at the ends, towards either ends to produce that unkempt, sexy look.
The hairdo weighted up – You could also have a stylish hairdo in minutes by holding back some of your hair from the front and adding a stylish hair clip to hold back the hair. You could either brush back the hair revealing your ears, or let the hair be pulled back and allow some tresses to hang around your ears to create that sexy, careless look. It is a great hairstyle to flaunt with elegant evening wear.
So go ahead, try some stylish haircuts today!

If you have long hair, sometimes you would just like to keep it that way – simple and long. Of course, nothing is simple about long hair. You need to spend time to condition it regularly, treat it for dryness or oiliness, shampoo it regularly and care for split ends.
If you do take care of your long hair, it would stand you in good stead. And it would then be a style of it’s own which you can flaunt without going in for elaborate haircuts or hairstyles.
Take for instance the hairstyles shown below:
The one shown here is absolutely natural. The lady here has brown brunette hair which is grown long and straight. There are natural waves and flicks to her hair which is part of her natural tresses. She has thrown in a side parting and carelessly flicked her hair to one side. The hair is not even brushed down completely, but brushed carelessly with the fingers running through.
You could try another simple long haircut. As shown below, the hair is cut in long layers and the edges are razor cut and tapered. This simple haircut can be carried off with some highlights which make this simple haircut a great look to flaunt in all occasions.
If you have long hair which is bountiful and full of luster, then flaunt it the way it is. Just take care of the split ends and condition your hair properly. Then, with the use of shine serum or anti frizz serum, you could flaunt those long tresses as they are. You could also add volumiser to the roots in the front of the hair and brush it back. This would create a great, natural look.
So go ahead and try a simple long haircut which would allow you to flaunt your beautiful hair in it’s own natural style.

School Haircuts for Long Hair
Published on April 12th, 2011.
When it is time to go back to school after a long vacation, many girls want to flaunt a new look. And for those who have long hair, they have a lot of options.
For girls with long hair, there are lots of haircuts available which would give you a different look and help you make heads turn on the first day of school. Here are some tips:
- Try the shaggy style- you could go in for the shaggy look which consists of cutting your hair in uneven layers and razor cut edges. You could layer your hair from mid length onwards or towards the end; the shaggy, edgy hairstyle is very in nowadays and can be adorned by a head band or held in place by a pony tail, showing off the tapered ends of your shaggy hairstyle.
- Layer it up – If not the shaggy haircut, you could opt for simple layers which will add variety to your long locks and compliment your face. This is similar to the shaggy haircut but the layers would be more gradual and the tapered ends more subtle. It would be a great hairstyle to flaunt with your long locks.
- Try the emo look – If you would like to be daring, go in for an “emo” haircut. It would consist of having bangs in front of increasing length which will partly hide one eye. Such long sweep of hair in front characterizes the emo look. This look can be paired with an edgy or shaggy haircut.
- Layered and curled – If you have straight long hair and would like to go in for curls, then a lot of options are available for you. You could have the hair cut in layers and then either given gentle waves towards the end or loose, large curls from mid length, whatever suits your style.
- Highlight those tresses – another interesting way to carry off long hair is to give it subtle shades of highlights which will bring variety to your long tresses.

Side Swept Bangs on Long Hair
Published on April 12th, 2011.
If you have long hair, you often wonder how you would be able to style it. Though it looks great when you flaunt it in it’s natural elements, you get tired of the look easily. And then what are the ways you could add variety to your long hair? ![]()
There are numerous ways you could do so. If you want to add variety along the lengths without compromising on the hair length, then go in for layers. A layered haircut consists of giving the edges a layered look where the topmost hair strand will be shortest in length while the length increases as you go down. You could opt for a circular halo like effect around your face; or you could opt for beveled cut where the layers are cut more towards the ends of the hair. The layered ends can then be styled in various ways.
If you like to keep it straight and long, then go in for hair straightening and thin down the edges and give them a long, tapered look. If you have fine, thin hair and would like to add body and volume to your hair, then opt for waves or curls to the layers and this will help you to achieve the desired effect.
Finally, another way of adding variety to your long hair is by means of bangs. Bangs are like accessories to long hair; it breaks the monotone of the hair length and adds glamour to the entire look. The most versatile of all bang styles is the side swept bangs.
Side swept bangs are cut in a more gradual lengthening manner than blunt cut fringes which sit straight and blunt across the forehead. The side swept bangs can be short in length, sitting just above the eyebrows, or could lengthen beyond the eyebrows, which can be swept to the sides with the flick of a brush or the hand.
The side swept bangs can sweep into a layered long hairstyle easily; as they sweep side ways, they appear as extension of the layered long hair.

Prom Long Haircuts
Published on April 11th, 2011.
Are you getting ready for the prom? Once you have decided what to wear, you need to decide on the hairstyle that would go with it.
If you have long hair, then the options for hair styling are many. But of course, before you begin to style, make sure that your hair is in good condition. If your hair is full of split ends, of uneven length, then do go in for a haircut first. Get a good hair stylist to not only give your hair the much needed trim, but to also shampoo and condition your hair and give you some tips to care for your hair.
Then decide the look you want to achieve and ask your hair stylist how to go about it.
If you are going in for a curly look, then decide whether you want it permed into tight curls or large, loose curls or just some waves and flicks. This could be achieved by first cutting your hair into layers along the sides. Then get the hair permed, whether loose or tight curls and get the front hair styled accordingly. Curly hair can be worn loose and you need to keep your curls looking non frizzy. This can be achieved with an anti frizz cream.
Then again, there are the hair updo styles. If you are wearing a dress which would be shown off best with an updo hairstyle, then do so. You could choose a tight bun or a soft bun like a chignon. This is achieved by holding back the hair loosely and twisting it around into a bun with a few strands hanging loose. This would achieve a great look and need to be held in place by a fashionable hair clip or like accessory.
There are other styles that can be flaunted in a prom as well. You could let your hair down and keep it straight and sleek, or hold it back partially, keep it in waves or curls.

Perming Long Hair
Published on April 11th, 2011.
Perming long hair is something that all those who have straight hair dream of doing. It is an unending paradox: those who have long, straight hair want it permed and those who have long, permed hair would like it straight.
Perming hair was a painstaking process in the older times. We have all seen those movies where the common sight was of ladies going to bed with rollers in their hair.
In recent times, perming is a much faster process thanks to the use of chemicals. Perm is short for permanent wave. It is usually achieved by the use of curling irons, long or short ones depending upon the length of your curls – whether you want them large and loose or tight, small curls.
Long, straight hair can be permed in a variety of styles. There are various options when it comes to perming hair:
Spot or weave perm – perm a desired section of hair
Root perm – perm the roots of your hair to add volume and style
Stack perm – perm the ends of hair
Spiral perm – to curl the hair around large rollers to give the hair boticelli curls
Body perm – to add waves to the hair length for larger volume and bounce
Every type of perm has a different effect on the hair. As seen above, this type of curly hair can be achieved by the use of small rollers all over the hair. Perming is a process whereby curling iron is used on damp hair and a perming solution is added to the hair. The perming solution is kept on the hair for 1-2 hrs and then a neutralizer is applied. This takes off the effect of the perming solution and helps create the sulfide bonds in the hair which result in curls. Once the neutralizer takes effect, it is washed off the hair and the style is set.
Permed hair styles last 6-8 weeks after which regrowth of hair may loosen out the perms. Hence, a root perm may be taken to renew the permed effect.
For special occasions, you could go in for stack or body perm which would add waves or long, loose curls to your long hair and give you a distinct, new look to flaunt that evening or afternoon.
